Meet Tyler.

I started dancing in 2019. Before that, I'd never done any kind of partner dancing.

I first stumbled across a salsa night and was immediately drawn to the atmosphere, everyone dancing with everyone, the smiles, the energy, the high fives at the end of a song. I remember thinking, I need to learn this.

So I started taking classes. Then more classes. And then, somewhere along the way, salsa became a huge part of my life.

I eventually made the decision to leave my career in accountancy and follow something I genuinely loved: teaching and dancing salsa.

For me, social dancing is one of the rare times when everything else disappears. You hear the music, connect with another person, trust the training you've put in and create something together in the moment.

And that's what keeps me hooked.

One of the things I love most about salsa is how big the world becomes through dance. Wherever I travel, I can walk into a salsa night, meet people I've never met before and communicate through something we all understand — the dance.

The more I learn, the more I realise there is to discover, and that's part of the fun.

I created This Is Salsa because I want other people to experience some of that same joy — whether you're completely new to salsa or you've already been dancing for years.

Learn something. Have fun with it. Then take it onto the dance floor and share it with someone else.
