The philosophy

More than moves.

We're not here just to teach you moves. We're here to teach you how to dance.

01

Foundations

Build the skills that make everything else easier. Timing, footwork, frame — the stuff that actually makes you a dancer.

02

Musicality

Learn to hear the music, find the 1, and understand what you're dancing to — not just count to eight.

03

Connection

Learn to communicate through your frame, preparation and movement. Leading and following done properly.

04

Progression

Follow a clear pathway from your first basic step to advanced social dancing — not disconnected weekly combos.

05

Community

Meet people, practise together and actually enjoy the process. The WhatsApp groups are half the fun.

06

Confidence

The goal isn't the classroom. It's taking what you learn onto the social dance floor and loving it.

Zero experience needed

New here?

Never danced salsa before? Start here.

You don't need experience. You don't need a dance background. You don't need a partner. You'll be building towards the social dance floor from your very first class.

  • ✦ Foundations taught properly, from scratch
  • ✦ Same group every week — no being thrown in at the deep end
  • ✦ Partners rotate, so everyone dances
  • ✦ By week four, things start to feel like dancing

How it works

Learn. Progress. Dance.

Each course is a progressive block: same group, same room, week after week. You're not learning a random combination every week — you're building on what you did last week.

Step 1

Complete Beginner

Start here. Everyone does.

Step 2

Improver

You know the basics. Now make them work.

Step 3

Intermediate

From patterns to actual dancing.

Step 4

Advanced

Precision, style and musicality.

A note on partners: spaces on each course are split into leaders and followers so classes stay balanced. You don't need to bring a partner — we rotate in class. When you book, you'll pick the role you want to learn.

Community

Dance together.

Joining This Is Salsa isn't just a weekly class. It's a group of people who practise together, go out together and get better together.

Class WhatsApp Groups

Private groups for every course — updates, practice questions and social plans. Students are invited once they're booked on.

Video Hub

Class recaps and practice resources so you can drill the week's material before the next one.

Social Events

Regular chances to dance outside class, meet the rest of the school and put it all into practice.

The teacher

Meet Tyler.

Founder and teacher of This Is Salsa UK. Tyler's classes are built on clear explanations, strong foundations and a room where everyone feels comfortable giving it a go.

Expect a focus on musicality, partner connection and progressive learning — taught in a way that actually makes sense, in a class that doesn't take itself too seriously.
